Faith in Society is proud to support a new initiative to help transform inner-city surroundings in Coventry.
The Coventry Sacred Space Initiative (CSSI) is hoping to work with a whole host of stakeholders in helping to transform Swanswell Park, north of the city centre which requires urgent repair and regeneration. The area is deprived of economic growth for years. Other areas of the city are also under consideration.
Warwick Hawkins, Director of FiS attended a meeting of over 80 representatives of Coventry’s diverse religious and cultural communities at the Welcome Centre in central of the city on Wednesday 22nd January 2020. FiS is writing a report on the event and continue to offer advice to the project.
The Deputy Leader of Coventry City Council, Cllr. Abdul Salam Khan welcomed the idea and was enthusiastic of the community coming together to help social and economic re-development in the city. The project has gained support from local statutory bodies including the City Council, West Midlands Police and the Home Office. This Summit was organised by the Coventry Safety and Security working group with representatives of the local community and supported by the Local Authority.
